Is Your Digital Life Stressing You, Ways To Overcome Some Of These Feelings

5 Mins read

Is your digital life stressing you? We’re living in an age of never-ending digital challenges. We’ve all heard the horror stories about someone’s phone being hacked, or passwords being stolen, or private information leaked. Most of us are living in fear that any day now, our digital security will be compromised and all our sensitive data will be exposed to the world.

But you don’t have to live in fear any longer! We’ve compiled a list of 5 common digital challenges and how to overcome them so you can live your life without worrying about whether your personal information is safe.

So, without further ado, here’s our list of common Digital Challenges and how to overcome them!

Is your digital life stressing you?

1) Technology is changing too fast

Digital Life is all about being at the forefront of technology. With your smartphone, tablet and every other piece of technology constantly evolving, it’s hard to keep up.

The truth is that technology evolves so quickly that it’s difficult to stay updated. The great news though is that you can always take a few steps back and completely pause your digital life for a while.

Sometimes it’s better to take your time and decide what you actually want from your digital life. The key to digital acceptance is to focus on getting back in touch with your needs than focusing on social media and being connected to the world.

Don’t let everything be about technology because sometimes, it’s better not to be constantly connected. Digital life can wait!

How do I do this?

In order for you to stop being viewed as a tech addict, you need to start using the technology again in less aggressive ways.

Here are three suggestions:

  1. Go offline. When you want to get away from the distractions of digital life, go offline and do something that really matters to you. You might want to go for a run, or read a book, or go out with friends and eat sushi without your phone.
  2. Take a break from social media for a few days/week. Social media is so much fun because it’s also great for connecting with people in real time, but sometimes it’s better not to be constantly connected because you’re too busy focusing on things other people would say about your life!
  3. Make a digital detox plan. Create a plan for digital detox and work out what would happen if you went completely offline. Don’t be afraid to say you don’t want to be connected. Declare yourself an offline photographer, blogger, writer or whatever would make your life better without being constantly connected to the world!

2) I can’t quite get back into the swing of things

It’s hard to start using new technology again after spending so many years getting used to the old ways of doing things. But it’s important not to let your old habits set in when you want to get back into the swing of things.

How do I do this?

  1. Start slow. Instead of immediately plunging into a sea of new technology, start slow by setting aside catching up on missed lectures or school projects as well as taking a few days to get used to your new phone or computer.
  2. Change up your routines. You can’t just change back to old habits overnight! To successfully get back into the swing of things, you need to change up some of your daily routines so they don’t feel so…old and antiquated! For example, instead of using your old laptop at night before bed, try using a tablet instead so you can read an eBook in bed with less eye strain.
  3. Set your sights higher. As with any new set of habits, it’s important to get some low-level success early on to help push you and motivate you towards your goal. Some people like to watch old “good” films on TV before they use their new TV again and others like to listen to music they used to love before starting a new playlist.

Whatever helps motivate you and get you started can work! Don’t be afraid of going backwards in order to move forwards and regain control of your digital life!

3) I can never seem to keep up with my digital life

Digital Life is about constant innovation and change – but for some people, it’s hard not to get bored. Sometimes we all need to step back and find a balance between the digital and analogue worlds in order to keep up with new technology.

How do I do this?

Here are three ways you can keep up with your digital life without falling behind:

  1. Plan out your week. Instead of trying to keep tabs on everything going on in your digital life, try creating some sort of schedule or agenda that helps you prioritize everything that’s happening. You will be able to work out which events or activities are important or necessary and which ones can be skipped or taken off the schedule.
  2. Set some goals for yourself. If you can’t keep up with your digital life, it might be because you’re not even sure what you’re trying to do! You don’t have to be a professional with a set of goals or plans, but it’s important to set some sort of sights for yourself – no matter how lofty they are!
  3. Do what you want to do. Sometimes we get caught up in trying to do things we think we should do instead of spending time on the things we think are more important. Do what you want to do – don’t let your digital life get in the way of being happy!

4) I’m afraid my computers and phones are going to get stolen or lost

Technology is constantly changing and evolving, but there’s one thing that’s always constant: fear. Every time your phone gets stolen or your laptop gets broken, you have to worry about the dangers of technology slipping from your fingertips. But here’s the truth: once you get a smartphone, there is no getting rid of it. It’s always on.

How do I do this?

If you’re worried about your technology getting stolen or lost, try these three tips:

  1. Keep a list of everything you need to do. Instead of just sitting there and worrying about losing your phone, write down what you need to do and make a list of the things you need to take care of before you leave on vacation. If your phone is lost or stolen, at least you know what’s happening with the rest of your digital life!
  2. Create a back-up plan for all possible eventualities. Your digital life is always changing, and it’s important to have some sort of back-up plan in case something goes wrong with one system or another. If you create a back-up plan, you won’t have to worry about checking your laptop or computer all the time because it will already be on the way to being fixed or replaced.
  3. Learn from your mistakes and create new habits. Sometimes we don’t learn from our mistakes because we either become complacent or try to beat ourselves up over our slip-ups.

5) I need new tech but don’t have enough money

Technology is constantly changing, and upgrades will cost you some time and money. Sometimes it’s hard to find the cash to get what you need, especially if you have bills to pay or student loans that are overdue.
If this sounds like you:

How do I do this?

  1. Try not to stress. It’s ok if you can’t upgrade your tech quite yet – there’s no shame in taking a little break from the newest products just because you want them! What’s more important is that your digital life works for you, not the other way around!
  2. Make a plan for when you can afford new technology.

Conclusion

Don’t let your digital life stress you out! Instead of getting frustrated and letting your tech get in the way of being happy, think about where your money is going instead. Do you really need a new computer or is it time to pay off some old debts and bills?

Life is about balance, right? This goes for not just work, family and friends but also for everything we do in our free time. If you feel like you’re not able to keep track of all the things happening online, try the above tricks! All the best.
